[The best time for soul searching is at the tail end of a massive party when everyone is slightly drunk. Rider, a goblet of wine in one hand, addresses you seriously.]

This is a fine revel, but that alone does not let me know your measure as a man/woman/individual [select appropriate].

Tell me, what would you say is the most important thing in life? What ideal do you value above all others?

[Battle is joined! Or at least, it will be in a moment. First, the enemy would have a word with you, under the flag of parley.]

This need not come to violence, my friend. You need only surrender and join my cause. Surely a peaceful resolution would be best?

[Despite his conciliatory words, he IS still addressing you from a massive chariot.]

[Sinbad grins faintly as he gently gestures the women hanging around them to find someone else to have with for a bit, while he whispers to one:]

And you - I'll see later.

[With that, he turns to Rider, hands clasped together, eyes turning to the people still partying]

See how happy they are? They don't have to worry about whether their homes are going to be razed by an enemy, persecuted for being different, don't have to fear their king will seize their belongings and take their children to die in some foreign land. That's what I think is important - the freedom to just be without the cloud of dread and doom over their heads and not having to surrender their culture or their ideas just to live.

It sounds to me like you barely rule this land at all. If you want your people to be able to do whatever they want, do you know if you can count on them when you need them?

[He smiles faintly, answering without a moment's hesitation as he refills their glass]

Of course. Everyone here is practically my family here. I'm not saying we are without rules - as that's not a country that's chaos. But this is a place where they have no fear of being treated as a tool or simply a resource.

So then in your mind, a king is to his people as a father is to his family.

[He chews this idea over, considering it.]

Yes... that's actually a good way of putting it. A king can't be distant, he'll forget that his subjects are living, breathing people and that way lies ruin for him and his country.

[He steps away as he grabs his cup, leaning on a railing]

Care for your people, and they'll care for you, be firm when needed but allow them freedom.

Hmm, there's definitely something to be said for this way of thinking. Your people will love you and support you without a doubt, and defend your land fiercely. I only wonder, though, how well they would take to supporting you should you decide to conquer another land.

[And obviously, any king is eventually going to do that. I mean, come on.]

Do you inspire your people to greatness, King Sinbad?

Conquer? No, and I rather they not, creating and expanding a vast empire is not my goal. What I want to do - is change the world.

[He held his goblet up, the moonlight reflecting off it's surface]
