THE OC EXCHANGE

It was mentioned once that it would be weirdly fascinating to watch someone else play one of your OCs. I agree with this sentiment, so I propose that we all make journals for each other's OCs (or if it's someone you trust, you can just actually lend them the journal or something.)

Respond to this post with your Original Character's journal, describe them, and link to a few threads they've done that really showcase what this character is all about. Then look at other people's entries and pick one you like! We'll do some kind of musebox THING with them and it will be weirdly fascinating!

Ricasthix

Ricasthix is a relatively young dragon who is basically the equivalent of a college freshman who took a philosophy class and now thinks they're the philosopher king of the Earth. He lives on the outskirts of a human city, and rather than rampaging across the countryside and demanding tribute, he sits on top of buildings and watches people, making them nervous while studying our fascinating primitive culture.

Here is Ricasthix's character tag at Exsilium, the main game I played him at!

And here is his application for that same game!

Njall, son of Erland

[personal profile] modern_ancient 2015-05-26 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Njall is an immortal viking. After an encounter with a UFO with strange purposes of it's own around the year 1000AD, he found that he, along with his best friend, could recover from any injury and did not age. The two of them spent the next thousand years getting in fights with each other because they had nothing better to do. Since they couldn't kill each other, they would raise the stakes and make it interesting by making friends with mortals so that when they went to battle they had emotional weakspots.

He's freakishly patient, likes telling old stories, is a master swordfighter, and in some versions of his story he has the ability to turn into a stone giant.

Here is Njall's character tag at Super Robot Wars Unlimited Generation Alpha, the RP with the longest name that I played him at.

And here is his application (for a different RP, but all the points still sand true)

Grant Ruskin

A Nasuverse OC! Grant is a moderately infamous enforcer of the Mage's Association from America which to the magical community is still kind of like the Wild West. After taking down numerous evil conspiracies, magical petty crooks, and generally saving the day enough to build up a bit of a legend, a two-bit necromancer got lucky and took him out. However the Necromancer goofed and used his body for an experiment. He replaced Grant's heart with a magical clockwork heart that would bring him back to life as long as it was fueled by magic. Grant woke up, broke free, killed the necromancer, and went back to work, though now with a life threatening addiction to magic. He joined the Holy Grail War in the 1920s, and since he had technically died, when he summoned his servant, he summoned himself.

Here is the thread where he summoned himself. Unfortunately the PSL never really got very far. Also obviously he has a different PB and a different journal now.

A Federal Marshall in a weird magic-punk version of 1860s-1870s Dakota Territories, an elven woman that's been crossdressing as a man because she really wants to be the law and society's kind of sexist.

Real Stickler for the laws, bad at poker, otherwise is a cheerful live and let live sort.

Cheryl Bugg

[personal profile] insecretary 2015-06-05 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheryl originally was a joke character for a Hellboy-based BPRD-set game I co-modded, in which she was Manning's secretary.

A refugee from an underground giant ant colony (Because of COURSE there are underground giant any colonies in that world), she was found washed ashore on an underground lake in Carlsbad Caverns. She was brought to the BPRD soon afterwards, and she's since learned to understand humanspeak and fit in as well as a monsterous ant-girl can. Her inborn sense of efficiency made her an able administrative assistant. She was installed in human resources, and then as Manning's assistant soon afterwards.

She's about four feet tall including the antennae, can fly for very short distances and crawl on walls, and can lift several times her own body weight (Although she doesn't generally do that unless she's REALLY angry.)

She also cannot speak any human language, but instead communicates in her own particular series of sounds (Eventually called "beepispeak" by the players and mods.) I would supply a quoted sample of beepispieak and then the translation in narrative soon afterwards, implying that the reader can understand her anyway: like R2D2, only with wings. Here is an ancient sample thread, to give you an idea of how it worked.

Kohaku Yuhara

[personal profile] haremtrap 2016-06-30 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Kohaku comes from a version of Earth that stumbled upon a giant network of caves riddling the Earth's crust deep underground in the 1980s. The caves are full of monsters, some of which could fuse with humans to give them super powers. Now the Hosts of these strange symbionts are all that stand between humanity and extinction at the hands of the Deep Ones.

Our hero is such a Host, and is going to Aegis Monster Hunter Academy, the number one school in Japan for teaching how to control your powers and become a deadly warrior of humanity. For some reason, Kohaku keeps winding up with the attention of very attractive women who don't realize that Kohaku is actually a girl too, and utterly uninterested in their advances. Having to deal with that, strange conspiracies between The Deep Ones and short sighted humans who desire power AND school life makes her life very busy indeed.

here is the test post for the setting.
