OC post!

Avanti Kadam. Space pirate. Rebel. War hero. Savior. Traitor. Leader. She's been called a lot of things in the 34 years she has been a captain of various spacefaring warships. Someone once suggested she retire and no one ever found his body.

Originally from a Gundam AU game, but can be fitted into any setting in which battleships fire broadsides at each other, whether in space or on terrestrial oceans.

-1-

Kadam's ship, the Osiris, on which you are a crew member or possibly passenger, drifts along through the depths of space after an intense battle. The ship was more or less intact and repairs were proceeding at an acceptable rate, which gave Kadam some time with her thoughts. She stared out of the window of the officer's lounge at the stars while holding a mug of coffee which she would occasionally sip from.

She glanced over when she noticed you. "Quite the battle, wouldn't you say?"

-2-

Space battle. Things were exploding, people were dying, the numbers were against you. Yet through it all, orders continued to come down from command in a...well, not exactly a calm voice, but at voice that definitely didn't sound like it was panicking. It was a bit comforting to know that at least someone in this whole mess knew what was going on.

Your radio crackles to life with a direct transmission. "How do you feel about insane plans that might win this now or might backfire horribly?"

Kadam is from Old Money, and feels perfectly at home making small talk with the ridiculously wealthy. Her towering height, sharp uniform, and eye-patch makes her stand out from the crowd like a falcon surrounded by pigeons. At the moment she is in the middle of a small crowd of rich socialites and is sharing a story from her colorful career with them all. Apparently a story about an encounter with a band of space pirates. She finished the story up with, "So then their second in command hijacked his ship and turned tail and ran, leaving the pirate captain stranded in space in a disabled interceptor, swearing a blue streak."

There was some polite laughter, after which Kadam excused herself to get her drink refilled. Were you part of the group listening to the story? Curious about how much of it was true? Perhaps you're not used to fancy parties and want advice on which fork to use when. Maybe you just want to make small talk.

-Bonus-

Ever played a game of chicken?

Ever played a game of chicken with ten thousand ton battleships tearing eye-searing trails of light across the depths of space?

Jacqli had her hands full. Her mobile armor was both uniquely valuable and uniquely vulnerable, completely unarmed as it was. Oh sure, it absolutely bristled with directed energy arrays, wide and narrow band tools for pumping out megawatts of power. They were just all sensors, communications antenna, and protective barriers. She had started the battle with a missile-pod, but with all the ammo spent she had dropped that ordinance to save weight and free up some extra energy for maneuvering.

She did not need to be talking about some plan when she was up to her elbows in holographic displays and priority requests for support. "A bit busy right now. Keep it short and simple."

Snake breathes out - and there's a hiss as he releases the vacuum seal of his suit now that it's at equal pressure with the room - Saboteurs like himself had the ludicrously dangerous job of landing on enemy ships and disabling them as a prelude for hostile take overs or just simply making them sitting ducks.

"I hear you, their close-range defenses have been getting better." He remarked dryly as he removes his helmet, shaking his head to undo the helmet-hair.

Mina's father had subtly suggested that she get to know Kadam. Something about it doing her some good to have a role model that isn't involved with fashion. Something about business being like war with its own strategies. She isn't so sure about this particular role model, though. Wow, those sounded like some insane things to do.

"Was all that for real?"

A part of her can't help but be impressed. Her friends' parents didn't have any stories like this.
