Samata and Gordon were both science nerds on some level, even if her definition of science involved fewer words like “subatomic” or “large particle collider” and more words like “odic force” or “magical current.” Their backgrounds were obviously VERY different, but their shared desire to pry the universe apart and pull out its inner workings had let them build up a friendship even so.
Or possibly more than just a friendship, at least if you asked her. So when it became clear that Gordon was going into the sex tube, Samata’s hand shot up like it was spring loaded. “I volunteer! I volunteer to help Dr. Freeman!”
The poorly disguised enthusiasm got a bit of laughter from the rest of the staff, but dammit, when you see your chance, you go for it.
